'2012 ' has become a buzzword these days, thanks to the incessant end of days programs on History Channel and the upcoming movie. People are freaking everywhere and want to know the predictions in every civilisations from Mayas to Hopis to Aztecs and Bible book of Revelations to I-Ching to Nostradamus quatrains and off late the end of world connections to the world's oldest religion Hinduism.

Being a Hindu by birth and brought up in a world of great Epics, Vedhas and Puranas, I'm sure I can add more light on this subject.

The four yugas or ages described in the Bhagavad Gita (8.17) and the Srimad Bhagavatam (3.11.19) are satya/krita yuga for first 100, 000 years, treta yuga for next 1.296 million years and Dvapara yuga for 864, 000 years and the last kali yuga for 432, 000 years. In Kali yuga people live for upto 100 years and will be engaged in irreligious practices solely for sense gratification/kama. People in the age of Kali will be lazy, quarrelsome, greedy and deceitful.

The end of kali yuga is marked by the arrival of 'kalki' the last incarnation of Vishnu. The 10th avatar of God. Also it is interesting to find a coincidence that the 10th planet or planet X was named Kalki.

The last avatar of God, Kalki will ride a white horse and would punish all the people who were sinful. Bhavishya purana meaning story about the future is a book of predictions written by valmiki who has also written Mahabharatha has predicted the birth of Jesus, Allah and many other kings.

Though it would be only around 5000 + years since kali yuga begun by 2012, it marks a golden age after destruction. The year 2012 will bring incessant rain and flooding according to the predictions.

If you ever think these predictions and avatars of God in hinduism are just stories and have no evidences, then I would like to shed some facts about Dwaraka where Lord Krishna was born. Puranas says that the city was sinked under water.

This "under sea city of Dwarka" was discovered in 1994 and it lies under the Arabian sea in the coast of Gujarat in close proximity to near the present Dwarka temple in Saurashtra. According to archeologists this under-sea city was the real Dwarka where Lord Krishna lived has stunning golden pillars and remnants of palace under water.
